There have been numerous disasters throughout our country in recent weeks. ACDA is proud to support our friends and colleagues in Houston, Florida, and Puerto Rico by coordinating a fundraiser for their food banks. When contributing funds, you will have the option to specify a fund by simply noting FL, TX, or PR in the 'Comments' section and those funds will stay dedicated to the cause of your choice. If you do not specify you agree to share funds raised equally between Houston, Florida, and Puerto Rico.
ACDA will provide matching funds of up to $2,000. Please click ‘donate now’ to support children, families, and seniors that are in need of food, water, and supplies. 100% of the funds raised will be donated directly to local area food banks and designated for disaster relief.
Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane on Friday, August 25. By Monday, August 28, Houston and nearby towns received more than 24 inches of rainfall causing catastrophic damage and creating more demand than usual for food supplies.
Hurricane Irma swept through Florida beginning on Saturday, September 9 and continuing on a destructive path through Tuesday. The storm left behind a trail of destruction, debris, flooding and power outages after the storm roared up the state's Gulf Coast and brought its drenching rainfall and battering winds. Destruction and power outages were reported in most of the state of Florida from the Keys to Tallahassee and Jacksonville which experienced major flooding. Many are still without power and access to basic supplies and food resources.
Still recovering from Hurricane Irma two weeks prior, on September 20 Maria caused a historic catastrophe and thrust Puerto Rico into a humanitarian crisis. Winds of up to 118 mph, very heavy rainfall, storm surge, and flash flooding have left the island devastated including the island’s complete loss of power grid and destruction of most buildings.
ACDA thanks you for your donation and your support as we work together to
