TOPEKA, KS – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, will join Harvesters at their Topeka, Kan. warehouse/distribution facility to pack boxes of food for senior citizens who qualify for nutrition assistance under the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).
CSFP is authorized in the nutrition title of the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill is currently up for reauthorization before the Senate Agriculture Committee.
Senator Roberts will also meet with Valerie Nicholson-Watson, President & CEO , Harvesters, John George, Chairman of the Board, Harvesters and Vice President of Strategy, Hallmark Cards, Brian Walker, President & CEO, Kansas Food Bank, Marcee Binder, pastor and Executive Director, Wesley House, Dana Knott, Director of Advertising, Dillons Food Stores, Warren Sutton, farmer and Harvesters food donor and many others.
