Action:

ACDA creates a task force in response to the recent updates to the Buy American provision in the National School Lunch Program, including suggested contract language to be utilized in solicitations and contracts.

Why:

The ACDA Buy American Taskforce was formed at the request of the ACDA membership with the goal of assisting ACDA Members in an on-going understanding of and compliance with the statutory Buy American requirements for school meal programs. Impact to ACDA Membership: 

The Buy American requirement helps support domestic agriculture, which is one of the main purposes of USDA Food Distribution Programs. Although USDA Food Distribution Programs already have a 100% Buy American requirement, recipient agencies are increasingly purchasing foreign product with their other funds which is hurting domestic agricultural production. This is of interest to ACDA members since agricultural production affects all sectors of USDA Food Distribution Programs, including future availability of certain commodities
